Previous Y-DNA testing
The Barker DNA Project does not name the Ancestor, but using the internet archives wayback machine Barker family DNA Patriarchs the Barker DNA Project I Group 3 descends from John Barker, brother to Robert Barker and his Y-37 STR result was predicted to fall under I-M223.
NGS/WGS testing
NGS/WGS testing of patrilineal (direct male line Y-DNA descendants) would identify the haplogroup for the family and possibly define subclades for descendants.
