Biography

[1]Hannah Sturtevant, daughter of (Dea.) Samuel Sturtevant (II) and Mercy Cornish was born abt 1680 and died Plympton 23 Jan 1759. She married abt 1697 Ebenezer Standish and they had six children: Zachariah (1698), Moses (1701), Hannah (1703/4), Zerviah (1706/7), Sarah (1709) and Mercy (1716).

Second Generation

Hannah Standish was born prob. Plymouth (now Plympton) 6 Mar 1703/4 and died Taunton 5 Apr 1774. She married Plympton 4 Jan 1721/2 Seth Staples and they had eight children (Plympton): Hannah, Sarah (c1725), Susanna (c1728), Anne (m Joseph Richmond but no ch.), Mary, Zerviah (1740), John (1743) and Ruth (1744).

Zerviah Standish was born Plymouth (now Plympton) 8 Jan 1706/7 and died North Yarmouth, ME 29 Apr 1798. She married Plympton 20 May 1724 Andrew Ringand they had eight children (first three at Kingston, others at No. Yarmouth): Mary (1724/5), Andrew (1727-1729), Susanna (1730), Hannah (1733), William (1735), Sarah (1737), Eleazer (1740) and Deborah (1742).

Sarah Standish was born Plympton 9 Nov 1709 and died there 25 Aug 1792. She married Plympton 23 Sep 1728 Jabez Newland but they apparently never had any children.

Mercy Standish was born Plympton 17 Oct 1716 and died there 22 Nov 1794. She married twice, first Plympton 18 Dec 1745 Ebenezer Lobdell then aft 13 Mar 1765 Benjamin Weston but she apparently never had any children by either husband.

Third Generation

Hannah Staples was prob. born Taunton abt 1722 and died aft 26 Jan 1765.[1] She married Taunton 23 Jul 1741 Abraham Gushee and they had eight children (perhaps Raynham): Hannah (m. ____ Robinson), Sarah (m. ____ Dean), Lydia (m. ____ Shaw), Abraham, Mercy (m. ____ Jones, likely only one son), Seth, Elijah (1753) and Samuel (1760).

Sarah Staples was prob. born Taunton abt 1725 and died there 20 Feb 1767. She married Taunton 9 Nov 1745 Daniel Wilde and they had twelve children (prob. Taunton): Rhoda, Sarah, Samuel, Samuel Sumner, Rebecca Mason (m ____ Farrington), John (c1752), Daniel (d 1776), Anna (m ____ White), Rachel (d 1795 unm.), infant (d 1762). Molly (d 1801 unm) and child (d 1767).

Susanna Staples was born prob. Taunton abt 1728 and died Norton 13 Nov 1763. She married abt 1750 Job White.

To date, no known matrilineal (all female line) descendant of Hannah STURTEVANT Standish has publicly revealed where they have mtDNA tested. Anyone who believes they are a matrilineal descendant (in other words, anyone who believes their mother's mother's mother's etc. mother was Sarah) is encouraged to take a full mtDNA test and to contact MayflowerDNA1620@gmail.com.
