First Generation

(Deacon) William Crocker was poss. baptized at Modbury, Devonshire 11 Feb 1614/5, son of Hugh Crocker & Thomasine Michell. He died at Barnstable in Sep 1692.^[1] William is said to have emigrated to Plymouth Colony in either 1634 or 1635 where he married Alice ____^[2] bef. 1637 and they had six children: John, Elizabeth, Samuel (never married), Job, Josiah and Eleazer.

Second Generation

John Crocker was born Scituate 1 May 1637 and died Barnstable 11 May 1711. He married twice, first Barnstable Nov 1659 Mary Bodfish and second Barnstable 25 Apr 1663 Mary Bursley. By his first wife he had: Elizabeth (1660) and Jonathan (1662). By his second wife he had: John (1663/4), Hannah (1665), Joseph (1667/8), Benjamin (c1670-dy), Nathaniel (1673 never married), Experience (1674), Mary (1675), Jabez (c1675 never married), Abigail (1677-c1678), Abigail (1679) and Bathshua (1681).

(Deacon) Job Crocker was born Barnstable 9 Mar 1644 and died there 20 Mar 1718/9. He married twice, first Barnstable "ye beginning of" Nov 1668 Mary Walley then Barnstable 19 Jul 1680 Hannah Taylor. By his first wife he had (Barnstable): infant son (1669), Samuel (1671) and Thomas (1674). By his second wife he had (Barnstable): Mary (1681 m John Howland (III)), John (1683), Hannah (1685), Elizabeth (1688), Sarah (1690), Job (1694 unm.), David (1697) and Thankful (1700).

Josiah Crocker was born Barnstable 19 Sep 1647 and died there 2 Feb 1698/9. He married Barnstable Meletiah Hinckley and they had infant son (1669-1669), Thomas (1671), Mercy (1675), Mary (1677), Alice (1679), Melatiah (1681), Josiah (1684), Ebenezer (1687), Seth (1689-1719 unm.) and Benjamin (1692).

Eleazer Crocker was born Barnstable 21 Jul 1650 and died there 6 Sep 1723. He married Barnstable 7 Apr 1682 Ruth Chipman and they had ten children: Benoni (1682-1701 unm.), Bethiah (1683), Nathan (1685), Daniel (1607-1723 never married), Sarah (1689), Theophilus (1690/1), Eleazer (twin, 1693), Ruth (twin, 1693), Abel (1695) and Rebecca (1697).

Third Generation

Jonathan Crocker was born Barnstable 15 Jul 1662 and died there 24 Aug 1746. He married twice, first Barnstable 20 May 1686 Hannah Howland, and second Barnstable 1 Feb 1710/1 Thankful TROTT Hinckley (no children) By his first wife Jonathan had eight children (born [West] Barnstable): Lydia (1686), Hannah (1688), Thankful (1690 d.y.), Isaac (1692 ), Reliance (1694), Jonathan (1696), James (1699) and Ephraim (1702-1704).

(Capt.) Joseph Crocker was born Barnstable 1 Mar 1667/8 and died there 12 Apr 1741. He married Barnstable 18 Sep 1691 Anne Howland and they had three children (born Barnstable): Deborah (1691), Prudence (1692) and (Capt.) Benjamin (1696 m Priscilla Hall but only had three daughters). Thus there is no surviving Y-DNA line from (Capt.) Joseph.

(Capt.) Josiah Crocker (II) was born Barnstable 8 Feb 1684 and died at Annapolis Royal, Nova Scoti 10 Oct 1721. He married Yarmouth 10 Apr 1718 Desire Thacher and they had two children: Josiah (III) (1719) and Desire (1722).

Nathan Crocker was born Barnstable 27 Apr 1685 and died there 5 Jun 1750. He married Barnstable 10 Mar 1708/9 Joanna Bursley and they had: Jabez (1709), Benoni (1711), Nathan (1713), Isaac (1719), John (1721) and Temperance (1724).

Theophilus Crocker was born Barnstable 11 Mar 1690/1 and died Middleborough bef 5 Sep 1737. He married Plympton 19 Nov 1730 Lydia Eddy and they had: Lydia (1731), Ruth (1733), Theophilus (1734/5 m Mercy Hayford) and Abigail (1736).

Eleazer Crocker (II) was born Barnstable 3 Aug 1693 and died Willington, CT 4 Jul 1732. He married Haverhill 7 Apr 1720 Judith Saunders and they had: Joseph (1720), Benjamin (1722), Ebenezer (1724), John (1727-1727), Hannah (1729), Mary (1732), Ruth (1732), John (1735) and Sarah (1739).

(Dea.) Abel Crocker was born Barnstable 15 Jun 1695 and died Plympton (now Carver) 17 Jul 1781. He married Barnstable 16 Apr 1718 and they had: Rebecca (1718), Daniel (1722), Eleazer (1725), Mary (1727), Elijah (1729), Sarah (1733) and Joseph (1737).

Fourth Generation

Isaac Crocker was born (West) Barnstable 4 Apr 1692 and died Colchester (Westchester parish), CT 8 Aug 1769. He married twice, first East Haddam, CT 13 Dec 1718 Ann Smith and second Barnstable 31 Oct 1726 Elizabeth Fuller. By his first wife he had three cildren (East Haddam): Hannah (1719), Ann (1722-1772 unm.) and Joseph (1724). By his second wife he had five more children (Colchester): Elizabeth (1727), Mary (1729), Martha (1731), Abigail (1733) and a stillborn daughter (1736).

Jonathan Crocker was born (West) Barnstable 28 Aug 1696 and died there 21 Sep 1725. He married Barnstable 28 Nov 1723 Elizabeth Bursley and they had one child (Barnstable): Ephraim (1724-1725).

James Crocker was born (West) Barnstable 3 Sep 1699 and died Colchester (Westchester parish), CT 7 Nov 1785. He married Sandwich 2 Nov 1723 Alice Swift and they had nine children: Simeon (1722), Abigail (1724), Hannah (1726), Levi (1728), Jonathan (1730), James (1732), Thankful (1733/4), Lydia (1735/6) and Ephraim (1739).

(Capt.) Benjamin Crocker was born Barnstable 5 Apr 1696 and died there 20 Jun 1757. He married Yarmouth 17 Sep 1719 Priscilla Hall and they had three children (Barnstable): Deborah (1721-1744 unm.), Desire (1727) and Martha (1732). Thus, there are no surviving Y-DNA descendants of Benjamin or his father Joseph.

(Rev.) Josiah Crocker (III) was born Yarmouth 30 Oct 1719 and died Taunton 28 Aug 1774. He married twice, first Taunton 27 Jul 1742 Rebecca Allyn then Attleboro 5 Nov 1761 Hannah Cobb. By his first wife he had: Josiah (1742), Benjamin (c1745-1797 unm.), Allen, William (1747), Joseph (1749), Rebecca (1752) and Ebenezer (1755 never marr.). By his second wife he had Leonard (1762-1800 unm.) and Hannah (1765).

2. ↑ Some sources give a surname of either Hoyt or Foster, but no contemporary evidence supports any surname for Alice.

Previous Y-DNA testing

The Family Tree DNA Crocker DNA Project Group: Deacon William Cape Cod has three individuals, one has Family Finder tested and found to be R1b-U106. One individual has done Y111 STR testing. According to the NevGen Haplogroup predictor, the Y111 STR result falls under R1b U106>>Z381>Z156>>DF96>S11515>FGC8410 with 100% probability.

Further needed testing

We need direct male-line descendants of this Crocker family to WGS/NGS test to discover where this family falls in the Y-DNA tree.
